While many cannot conceive working together as a writing team, we wonder why it’s not the norm? But then again, we realize that we are not the norm.

 

Raised on opposite sides of the Houston metroplex, we are the embodiment of brothers from another mother. Our families are constantly amazed at our similarities, to the point of accusing us of sharing some kind of ‘hive mind’.  And while our separate childhoods indeed do have some amazing similarities (raised on fried spam sandwiches and pineapple upside-down cake to name a few), there are some stark differences in our pasts that give us each a unique view of life and family. One a musician, the other a jock. One an only child, the other with brothers and sisters.  One had happily married and devoted parents, the other dealt with the aftermath of divorce and infidelity.  The combination of these life experiences contributes to the uniqueness of our voice as a writing team, but what makes us successful is our collaboration.  

 

A collaborative effort requires equal voices with different perspectives.  With the ability to go in and out of stories at different times, and the absolute willingness to trust one another, we know that our writer’s room is a safe space and that there are no sacred cows that can’t be slaughtered. So, we created 2 Story Guys. Our mission: To share as many stories as possible, with as large an audience as possible, through whatever medium possible.  With the ultimate goal of touching lives through our love of storytelling.
